'45 Harley-Davidson

- Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone

Maybe Next Week

Our new project manager has been awesome. Everything is suddenly moving very quickly. I have no new pictures just because it is all detail work - getting the windshield wipers going, etc. Tomorrow it is supposed to go to Coleman's for upholstery. They are bringing over the seats and installing them so they can drive the car over to the shop! Pretty exciting.

On a completely different note, my Harley-Davidson is in and it looks amazing! I can't wait to ride it. It looks like I will get to keep the hand gear shift. Look at this thing, it is a piece of art.

Both should be ready next week! I will blog a full picture of the bike from my iphone.

Burgers and Chevs

The interior is coming along, check out the new glove box! I am getting really excited to drive this beauty. We have a few places we want to check out for our first picnic and Sunday drive close to home but eventually I hope to go on longer day trips. The fun is in the ride!

This jaunt would be an hour and a half away. It is the Brenham Airport - home of the Southern Flyer Diner, where the women still wear poodle skirts and they boast the award winning 100 Dollar Burger. It doesn't really cost 100 dollars but if you are flying in from out of town you may just end up paying that much for the round trip . . . . You can sip a malt and watch the airplanes fly in.

This is a good pic of an old Chev . . .

Beginning to Shine

The hubcaps are on and s lowly but surely the chrome is being pieced back together on this old beauty. I love this picture of her profile with the beautiful white walls and new hubcaps.

This second picture is a coy look at the rear wheels. Adorable!

Of all things this past week our project manager for the job has quit and moved to a new body shop! We are left with a laundry list of outstanding items and someone new we are working with.

Supposedly we are still on budget and are expecting to have her back in two weeks (I realize that time frame is sounding more and more outlandish every time I write it, but some day it will be true!).

Bumpers and Grill

We visited RMS on Saturday. The fuel tank and fuel system have been installed. This is believed to be the last of the mechanical issues. We won't really know for sure until they fire her up and drive her around. Right now that is difficult because it didn't have door handles . . . or any interior seats!

As you can see from the pictures, some important chrome has been put on and it is beginning to look like her old self! They have put the big chrome front grill and back bumper on, which really mean a lot to me in terms of progress and just plain beauty. The handles were installed this week and a large piece of chrome across the top of each door.

There is still a list of outstanding issues:
-There have been problems with the chromer - they did not do some of the parts correctly so they had to be sent back, some of the work is pending this re-do by the chromer
-We had ordered some weather stripping for the front window and inadvertently the wrong stripping was sent. We had to send the old stuff back and order the correct part. We also ordered wiper blades for the wind shield wipers.
-Blake needs us to send him a picture of the blue and red painting that needs to be done on the emblems (front and rear)
-It needs to go back to upholsterer for a half a day or so in order to install the interior and interior chrome
- They will be installing a kill switch and a new starter button
- There is one spot in the front that needs to be buffed paint
- We bought new knobs and pedals to be installed as well as new rear reflectors for below the back tail light
- safety inspection, tires cleaned and looking new, license plates and holder installed
